SUSTAINABILITY
Red Manna is constantly striving on improving practises and minimising environmental impact; starting from the ground up, into your cup.
Sourcing
Sustainability in sourcing Rooibos and Honeybush is formed through building long-term relationships with the growers, producers and suppliers we know and trust. Red Manna Rooibos and Honeybush are hand harvested and organic. Production then takes place on Fairtrade principles. Red Manna works with companies that ensure sustainable jobs for its employees and well-being of local communities, whilst implementing earth friendly and safe farms and work methods.
Packaging and Shipping
Red Manna is transitioning to 100% biodegradable and (home) compostable bags. They are made up of kraft paper and a compostable seal.
Freight packaging is not pretty…because we care: you will either receive your Manna in recyclable materials, such as boxes and paper, or, if plastic is used, such as plastic bags and bubble wrap, these items are being reused. I encourage everyone to recycle soft plastics if it cannot be used anymore. Thanks to Future Post’s innovative recycling initiative, using plastic to manufacture grape posts, most supermarkets now have the soft plastics recycling bins again. See participating organisations here.
If your prized soul food arrives looking a bit bland and identity-less...don't worry, it is what is inside that counts. On the outside though, no unnecessary waste is created by the use of stickers, labels, business cards, thank you cards, and information flyers…as these tend to go straight into the bin.
Practical Uses for Used Espresso
Used espresso is fantastic for the garden and compost. Snails hate Rooibos (probably the only creatures who do); sprinkle liberally around your vegetable garden. It is a welcome addition for your chickens to include in their food scraps, otherwise the compost bin will be all too thankful for the delicious donation.
Refill options
Refills are available for local orders (Blenheim and Orewa). Please contact for more details.
